After an accident in Germany: your rights
German rules differ from many other countries. These are the points our international customers ask about most.
If you were not at fault, you are free to hire an independent assessor. You do not have to accept the expert sent by the other party's insurer.
For accidents that were not your fault, the cost of the report is part of your claim – as long as the damage is above the minor-damage threshold of roughly €750.
Repair costs, loss in value, replacement and residual value: what is not in the report is usually not paid.
Secure the scene, call the police if anyone is injured or the facts are disputed, note the other driver's insurance details and take photos.
Like the documents of German insurers and courts, our reports are in German. We walk you through the results in English.
We are assessors, not lawyers. If you need legal advice, we can put you in touch with a traffic-law firm from our network.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to pay for the report?
If the accident was not your fault and the damage is above the minor-damage threshold, the cost of the report is part of your claim and is usually paid by the other party's liability insurer. For valuations and inspections you commission yourself, we tell you the price in advance.
Can you help with a rental or company car?
Yes. Let us know who owns the vehicle – the rental or leasing company may have its own rules, and we take them into account.
How quickly can you come?
Often within one or two days. Call us and we will arrange an appointment wherever your vehicle is.
